Are We Seeing The Same Fashion “Icon”?

Blake Lively’s Fashion Faux Pas

With It Ends With Us promo in full swing, Blake Lively has been stepping out in NYC. The movie premieres this weekend, and all I’ve heard about it is the drama between Blake and director Justin Baldoni. Rumors are swirling that Blake took creative power away from Baldoni to make the film more “Oscar-worthy.”

With that being said, Lively, who takes pride in being her own stylist, has been stepping out in a floral mess of a look each day, clearly giving a nod to her florist character in the film. Seen in looks from emerging designer Dauphinette, I need to know who is responsible for the public being gaslit into thinking that Blake is a fashion icon. Was it the one or two times she looked great at the Met, or just the fact that our brains are unable to separate her from Serena van der Woodsen?

To me, a press run is most memorable when the fashion is hitting the mark. Just this year, we saw Zendaya for Challengers and Daisy Edgar-Jones for Twisters. It’s fascinating how Blake can be seen as a fashion icon by the average person, but if you’re fashion-forward, it’s impossible not to compare her looks to the countless press tour ensembles that have blown us away. Is the constant flood of media making us compare everything to the best of its kind?

It was a refreshing change to see Blake Lively looking stunning on the cover of Vogue‘s September issue alongside Hugh Jackman. The styling was on point, and the playful photography captured a side of her we don’t often see. For a moment, it gave me hope for Blake Lively’s fashion legacy.
