Brat Autumn is Here.

Charli xcx has released ‘Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’ (aka the brat remix album) and she has done it again.

The album title describes the album perfectly, yes it is still brat but Charli has completely reworked it to be an entire different entity. The album lays an extra level of context to brat, it is still “party girl” but it expands on what else that lifestyle entails. It is ten layers deeper than the original album, it gives some of Charli’s most vulnerable yet best work of her career. Charli has revived the genuine remix, she dropped the idea of just adding an artist on a track and each song did an entire 180 from its original counterpart.

To get into some of the tracks, Sympathy is a knife (feat. Ariana Grande) is one of the most impressive songs I’ve heard In awhile. Ariana’s ability to adapt to a Charli beat needs to be studied. With the ‘Wicked’ soundtrack dropping in a month, it is insane to believe that the vocals on that were from the same person as a feature on a Charli xcx album. ‘So I’ gives a beautiful tribute to the late Sophie, going even further deeper into the duos friendship than the OG track. And ‘I think about it all the time’ with Bon Iver is exactly what I needed in my life. Every single second of this record brings something new to the table that music as a whole has been dehydrated from for years.
